Steps of Working on the Room

The Project: Working on the Room

I had many people help me renovate this room. My mother Brenda, brother Rob, and friends Lisa, Ralph and Keith all participated in the transformation process. The first step was cleaning. The floors also had to be covered so the paint would not ruin the carpeting. The paneling (walls) were sanded in order to allow the paint to adhere properly. After the sanding, the walls were wiped down so that the dust would not be swept up in the paint. The walls were painted. The beds that were in pieces then had to be fixed. The quote was painted on the wall, along with the mirrors and door being painted. Artwork was created specifically for the room along with a poster of Gandhi's biography. That was hung. An Indian inspired area rug was donated by Gretchen Lee, member of Cornerstone of the Arts and one of my mentors throughout this process. Lamps were purchased and their shades were spray painted to match the room. The beds were made as the final touch.
